Details
Due to its interdisciplinarity, the linking of research and practice orientation as well as the content focus on "work in companies and society", the Master's programme is not least intended to appeal to those with professional experience. Especially if you have made the leap from gainful employment to university, we hope to benefit from your expertise!
The course offer combines a wide freedom of choice between modules from the participating disciplines with the following structuring elements:
Compulsory core modules:
- Introductory course in which central topics of the degree programme are examined from the perspective of the participating disciplines;
- two-semester teaching research project in which you design, plan, carry out and evaluate your own empirical project - this is the core of your Master's programme;
- Master's colloquium, which accompanies your Master's thesis and in which you have the opportunity to discuss your respective project with other students as well as with the lecturers involved in the degree programme.
In order to adequately analyse work in companies and society and to recognise the changing processes, structures and power relations that are expressed in it, it is necessary,
- to get to know central concepts, findings and debates of the disciplines involved, to relate them to each other and to critically examine them;
- to develop one's own questions on this basis, to study the handling of suitable methodological tools theoretically and to test them empirically on a concrete research problem;
- to examine, refine and defend one's own findings in an interdisciplinary exchange.
Collective learning for the democratisation of the world of work
In the Master's programme "Work in Business and Society", collective learning and exchange between students with and without A-levels as well as with and without work experience is emphasised. You can expect a demanding course of study, because there is a lot to do in the workplace and in society.
In this degree programme, you will develop a qualification profile that will prepare you for jobs in academia or companies, in trade unions or non-governmental organisations.
